Silver Linings

On the rainy day on which I reached Paris, the Eiffel tower was not pretty. The streets were rain slicked and I was soaked through in the rain that often caught me off guard. It was cold and dreary, and the chill wind blew without respite.

Scoops

From where I could see, the Eiffel was a huge structure of iron and steel. It was in that moment disappointing. But the next moment at a turning I saw this. An Eiffel farmed against the scooped up dark clouds. The buildings of old peeping up from below, the rain stealing away to let a little light through.

Paris, in spirit, is a rainy afternoon with a little light, shining through a cloud. A light in the rain.
